Indoor Track

COHIPAC Track Club "TXC" is a USA Track & Field affiliated track program for high school and middle school-aged athletes in the Durango area.
The club hosts both indoor and outdoor (summer camps) programs and clinics. Our coaches have many years of experience in guiding and mentoring young athletes to achieve their best.

Our winter training program is geared towards improving strength, power, aerobic  conditioning, and technique.  Indoor track consists of the standard running, throwing & jumping events, but competition is often on small, tight 200m tracks. Distances are sometimes different than for outdoor track and may include 60m, 300m, 1000m, etc. We travel to meets in the intermountain west and race on hallowed tracks like Balch fieldhouse at CU Boulder.

Practice Schedule:
We meet between 3:30 - 5:30pm on Mon, Weds, and Thurs at Durango High School.  Practice sessions typically start the week after Thanksgiving and go until the middle of February.

Costs (2017):
  • DHS Track Camp fee is $25/day, $125/week
  • Coaching fee - $60/meet
  • USAT&F registration - $20
  • Uniforms - $60 (singlet, shorts)
  • Competition fees - $5/event per meet
  • Travel and accommodation for meets - typ. $30-50
Costs are kept to a minimum by donations and sponsorships.  Scholarships are available.

2017 Indoor Track Season:

We will be competing in meets throughout the SW. These may include:
  • Duke City Open, Convention Center, Albuquerque NM.

  • Great Southwest, Convention Center, Albuquerque NM

The COHIPAC squad in our racing singlets at the USAT&F Allcomers meet held at the venerable Balch Fieldhouse at CU Boulder on Jan 5 2013. Fast times and furious fun!

We travel to away meets with parents or in a club van and typically arrive the evening before a meet.  Each athlete is responsible for registering for the meet in events discussed beforehand with the coaching staff. The club will enter in relays if they are available.

Each track and experience is unique and you will be competing against some of the best middle school and high school athletes from Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.
